Twitter Launches Its Disappearing Tweets Tool

1 min read

Twitter has rolled out its new snapchat-style “Fleets” tool that allows users to post tweets that will then automatically disappear after 24 hours. First announced earlier this week, this new feature follows similar rollouts from the likes of Snapchat, Instagram and Facebook in recent years.

“Twitter’s purpose is to serve the public conversation — it’s where you go to see what’s happening and talk about it,” said the platform in a recent blog post. “But some of you tell us that Tweeting is uncomfortable because it feels so public, so permanent, and like there’s so much pressure to rack up Retweets and Likes.”

This public rollout comes after successful tests in Brazil, Italy, India and South Korea, of which the social networking platform said led to users talking more and sharing more casual thoughts, opinions and feelings.
