The BBC is reportedly experimenting with a new tool that will allow people to communally stream video or audio over the internet.
The idea is that you can watch Killing Eve or listen to That Peter Crouch Podcast with your friends and family even if you aren’t in the same house.
A similar tool for Netflix called Netflix Party became popular this year as lockdown meant people couldn’t watch their favourite shows together.
BBC Together will work with iPlayer, BBC Sounds, Bitesize, BBC News and BBC Sport.
The tool will work similar to a Zoom meeting or Google Meet chat. You choose what you want to watch and then share a link with your friends who can then join in.
The host can decide to start, stop and rewind playback and the tool should make sure everyone’s stream stays in sync.
It’s not clear when the tool will be made completely available, but we’ll update this article when we learn more.
